Article on Sovereignty of God and Evangelism
Here is a link to an article published by Table Talk of Ligonier Ministries - great folks and a great magazine! This is worth a read because it explains well the importance of understanding God's sovereignty in regards to evangelism.
They can become proud when people do get saved through their preaching because they wrongfully think they saved the person.
They can become discouraged when people do not get saved because they think it is their fault; they didn't preach well enough.
They can become tempted to modify the Gospel message (making in false) in order to make it easier to accept - the prosperity gospel is a classic example of how this happens (the true Gospel is not so easy to accept).
It is my persuasion that very little Biblical evangelism happens today as a direct result of not understanding the very important connection between God's sovereignty and evangelism. The more we can all seek the Lord to grasp these foundational teachings the better we can serve Him and proclaim His Gospel for His glory! Amen.
